Delaney Ortiz, MA, LPC Associate
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Counseling is my true passion in life. The opportunity to step into vulnerable places with people is a privilege that I approach with great humility and sensitivity. I understand that it is not easy and can be uncomfortable to expose the places we are hurting. It is for this reason that my standard is to treat every client with the same amount of sensitivity and care that I myself would want. It is in my heart to treat my clients no less than family. My desire is to form a relationship of trust, respect, and enlightenment. Clients will also benefit from my practice being supervised by Penny Haight, LPC-S, a clinical supervisor with over ten years of experience in mental health who specializes in a solution-focused approach.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as your counselor is to help you feel safe so that you can face the uncomfortable things in life while feeling supported, knowing that you are not alone. My hope and intention are for you to experience God’s love for you during our time together, bringing healing and realizing your full value in Christ.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
In our sessions, you can expect to learn how to incorporate God in both a practical, solution-focused way, as well as a spiritual way. When we are looking to develop healthy core beliefs to replace destructive ones, we will use Scripture as a way to measure thought patterns, decipher truth versus deception, address mental health symptoms, and assess the value of newly-formed beliefs. On a spiritual level, we will invite the Holy Spirit to guide our sessions and reveal therapeutic techniques to use for healing trauma, unhealthy thought patterns and emotions, fractured relationships, and more.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
One significant benefit of a Christian approach is the ability to achieve true and complete healing, not just gain therapeutic tools to manage symptoms. A Christian approach also provides a compass to guide the therapeutic process, rather than having to rely on human ideas and navigation, which can be flawed. God gives us His wisdom in His Word, which provides us with a standard and a roadmap.
Personally, my faith convicted me to direct my practice towards Christian counseling when I began to see the number of spiritual issues that were going on around me and in the lives of others. The daily battles that humans face are so often spiritual in nature, yet as a society we do not acknowledge this or treat them as such. Incorporating our spiritual selves into our mental health is essential if we are to be successful in the healing process and live joyful lives.
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a BA in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Arlington and an MA in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. My Call to Christian Counseling
My lifelong interest in psychology in conjunction with my teaching experience led me to the realization that counseling would be a perfect fit for me. As a former teacher, I spent many hours listening to students as they would voice their problems to me. I would comfort them when they were upset and be there for them. I formed a bond with my students that led me to realize that I thrive on one-on-one connections when it comes to my professional career. I enjoy listening to people tell me about their lives, and I have always had a profound amount of empathy for others.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I am a music lover and musician (guitar, piano, drums, voice). I’ve always loved to cook and be creative in the kitchen. I also really enjoy traveling. I actually lived in Italy for five months and studied Italian. If I could live anywhere, I would definitely move to the beach!

Anxiety
To treat anxiety, we would begin with an intake process that is holistic in nature, incorporating mind (thoughts), body (health, nervous system), and spirit. Then we would begin to make connections with the intention of discovering the root causes of your individual anxiety. We would then treat each cause accordingly, whether each cause is physical, mental, or spiritual.
Autism
As a parent of an autistic child, a therapist, and a former Special Education teacher, working with individuals with Autism is one of my passions and specialties. Because Autism is a spectrum disorder, it must be treated as such. Standard treatment for Autism focuses on behavior alone. Because I have been and continue to live out this journey in my own life, I am constantly updating my methods and resources for treating Autism.
Autism must be treated on physical level, addressing physical health (mainly the nervous system), nutrition, sleep, and stress response. One of my favorite treatments for Autism is neurofeedback. I offer neurofeedback at a very competitive rate, because seeing Autism relief is extremely near and dear to my heart on a personal level.
In some cases thought processes can be addressed, which all depends on the individual. Behavior modifications can be appropriate at times, as well as referrals to registered homeopaths, functional medicine doctors, chiropractors, and/or other professionals. No matter the case of Autism, I believe there is a lot of hope and healing available.
Personal Development
Incorporating an individualized, integrative, and holistic approach is key for personal development. Together we will discuss your goals for growth and establish practical steps to help you reach those goals, with God’s help and direction.
Women’s Issues
As a woman, I am with you! We deal with a lot, and I am no stranger to women’s issues such as navigating the dating world, choosing a spouse, being a spouse, pregnancy, miscarriage, raising a child with disabilities, and much more. Women’s issues are unique, special, difficult, and rewarding. Using techniques such as inner healing to fight self-criticism, as well as navigating grief and loss is helpful. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to strengthen our self-image and self-esteem, Christian counseling to find our identity in Christ, and a holistic and integrative approach for our health are all vital parts of being a woman.
Spiritual Development
Spiritual development is the motivation behind my entire practice. “For we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities” (Ephesians 6:12). There are spiritual truths that we can leverage to guide us in this life and help us in the struggles we are engaged in. My goal is to bring conscious awareness to spiritual battles and join clients in their walk with the Lord while putting on the full armor of God.
Many of our battles are in the mind! This is where Christian therapeutic techniques are so valuable. Spirit-led counseling, with the Holy Spirit being invited into our healing, is an effective road to transformation. The “renewing of our mind” (Romans 12:2) will help us discern lies from the truth and form healthy, God-honoring core beliefs.
